Because Donald Trump is not Jesus Christ

Donald Trump is making Christianity into a grotesque: a comically distorted figurine. A wax-museum Jesus on a melting cross wrapped in an American flag.

Instead of manipulating religion for control, Harris will preserve religious liberty. For people from all faith traditions or no faith tradition. For all of us. Pluralism is protected in the Harris administration, and that promotes human flourishing.

That’s one of the many reasons why, as a Christian, I’m enthusiastically voting for Harris and Walz—not in spite of my faith, but because of it.

Harris is aligned with the values Jesus taught around justice, dignity, and truth telling. Harris wants to increase access to affordable housing. She believes in the peaceful transfer of power. She wants to expand the Child Tax Credit.

Harris does not speak using language that others and dehumanizes. She supports policies that better care for those on the margins, including immigrants and refugees. She does not threaten or fearmonger. She does not blindly grasp power for gain.

Like people from many faith backgrounds, I am eager to vote for Harris and Walz, who will lead with clarity and empathy. And as I vote, I’ll remember: someday, the first will be last and the high things will be laid low. Because there are no golden escalators to heaven.
