Because America needs a leader focused on real issues, not distractions

I’m voting for Kamala Harris because the United States of America needs a leader focused on real issues, not distractions. Nobel laureate Toni Morrison once said, “The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work.” Similarly, the function of Trump’s narcissism and bigotry is distraction—it diverts our national attention, drains our public resources, and impedes our country’s progress.

This cycle of distraction has defined Trump’s presidency and its aftermath: from racist dog whistles questioning Barack Obama’s birthplace, to pushing baseless election fraud claims, and stoking the crowds into the January 6 insurrection. His endless legal battles and two impeachments have consumed unprecedented public resources, dominated news cycles, derailed legislative progress, and diverted attention from pressing national issues. For too long, the United States has been caught in this destructive pattern, neglecting critical challenges that demand our focus.

Meanwhile, our country faces real challenges that demand immediate attention: safety from gun violence in our schools, affordable housing, health care, climate change, voting rights, and the protection of fundamental reproductive rights. These issues strike at the heart of the nation’s founding promise of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Kamala Harris prioritizes these critical matters, honoring our forebears who fought for these rights and freedoms.

This is no time for shenanigans, grievances, or politics of personality. We need a president who unites us in tackling real challenges facing all Americans, not a divisive narcissist who drains attention and resources on personal battles. Kamala Harris embodies a commitment to “We the people” and public service, not self-service. She offers the chance to move beyond distractions and build a better future for all. That’s why Kamala Harris has my vote—because our nation needs substance and service, not spectacle.
