BECAUSE TRUMP THOUGHT HIS MUG SHOT WOULD ENDEAR HIM TO BLACK VOTERS

Last summer, Donald Trump was placed under arrest in Fulton County on thirteen counts related to his efforts to reverse Georgia’s 2020 election results. As a result, Trump became the first former president with a mug shot. Just six months later, Trump was bragging about the photo while speaking at a gala hosted by the Black Conservative Federation. Drawing the racist conclusion that being charged as a criminal gave him renewed relatability with minority voters, Trump said: “I think that’s why the Black people are so much on my side now, because they see what’s happening to me happens to them.” By contrast, Kamala Harris’s career includes two terms as San Francisco district attorney and a seven-year tenure as attorney general of California.
